 that they may Continue to build and Give Back to the Many Communities Throughout

 the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by way of education and performance.

The

   McCool  Piper  Award  

The McCool Piper Award named in honor of Piper Mike McCool

is awarded each year to a Piper of Celtic Thunder Youth Pipe-Band

demonstrating outstanding progress on the bagpipes.

Award  Recipient - 2009

Piper Rory McLean

     Rory began his journey with bagpipes in early 2008 as a student of Celtic Thunder

    Bagpipe School.  His passion for the bagpipe music is clearly demonstrated in his

    piping skills.  Rory has advanced from a pipe-student to the rank of Pipe-Sergeant

    in Celtic Thunder's Youth Pipe-Band.  Rory is also a member of the bands Grade V

    Competition Team.  Rory's Mom Kathleen explained to me during one conversation

    that his passion for playing the bagpipes with quality skill was inspired by two of

    Mike McCool's visits with the band where Mike performed and taught the chanter

    table for the evening.  Rory is well on his way to becoming an outstanding Piper.

    This is due to Rory's passion and Mike McCool's inspiration.
